JUNIOR NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPER
Overview of Role
Being highly self-motivated, proactive, and organised is essential for success in this role. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a product development environment and/or experience within the FMCG industry at an administrative or junior level.
This role is ideal for someone early in their career as a product developer who is looking for a company to grow with.
Principal Accountabilities
Setting up spec sheets and Purchase Authorisation forms
Co-ordinating the review and approval of formula and component samples with the technical team on a weekly basis.
Consistent organisation of project samples.
Assisting Product Developers in ad hoc tasks such as requesting component cutters, creating sample approval forms, market research, PA updates.
Supporting in conducting comp shops and store visits / benchmark purchasing
Completing detailed artwork checks prior to final NPD sign off, in line with deadlines.
Supporting the developers to build product briefs for sourcing.
Keeping a close eye on market trends, being able to correctly identify and size category opportunities at both macro and micro level, presenting insights to the Head of NPD & Creative Director.
Able to read and interpret critical paths and coordinating relevant task completion across internal teams to ensure project deadlines are met.
Essential time management in multiple projects’ critical path and ensuring these are updated weekly.
Carrying out bi-monthly comp shops to identify white space, gaps in the market and innovation ideas. Presenting new ideas to the team and Head of NPD.
Skill Set Requirements
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in FMCG product development environments.
Possess an understanding and passion for the beauty industry and a keen interest in trends.
Comfortable working in an environment where there are multiple products, ranges and categories being developed in parallel, to tight lead times.
Highly organised.
Strong attention to detail.
Independent and proactive.
Enthusiastic and energetic with a drive to develop.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
